The instructions are not quite up to Heathkit standards but easy enough to follow. The surface mount sound-chip comes presoldered to the board. The kit does require good soldering skills, a very fine point iron, small diameter (0.5 or 0.6 mm) solder and a good magnifying headset in order to work with the small lands on the board.
